A combination of Equitation Science and Equine Sports Massage Therapy allows me to combine evidence-based practices with hands-on therapy. It is not simply finding a tight muscle and treating it. I look at the horse in front of me — their posture, movement, muscular development, responses to touch, behaviour, workload and individual circumstances — because physical comfort and behaviour should not be considered separately. My philosophy is to understand the whole horse and use precise and thoughtful therapy accordingly. Every horse is different. The performance horse may need support for recovery, mobility and athletic function. The recreational horse deserves comfort, balance and enjoyment in their work. The retired athlete deserves dignity and ongoing physical support. The companion horse deserves exactly the same consideration simply because their comfort and quality of life matter. My role is not only to work with the horse’s body, but also to help owners better understand what their horse may be communicating and to share practical, science-informed knowledge that can strengthen the relationship between horse and human.
